August 26, 2013 by Chris Thomas

Everyday some poor computer user learns one of the most painful lessons in this now digital world. They turn on their computer or external backup drive that has every file known to mankind on it and…Click…Click…Click goes the hard drive. This sound sends shivers down the spins of system administrators around the world. It’s universally known Click…Click…Click is not what you want to hear on system start up. Not by choice you have just headed down the horrifying road of data recovery. Data loss can comes in an assortment of forms. A stolen laptop, bad hardware (above example), coworker incompetence, personal incompetence or the most common form magic, it’s just gone.

So… Sunntec’s goal is to help you avoid the above horrid situation. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes others have made. I am going to give it to you straight. Owning a computer comes with some responsibilities. I can see your gears are turning, awe what responsibilities? You just hit the nail on the head; you don’t know what you don’t know. (Sigh.. I hate this saying).

The data on your system(s) can make or break your home or small business. It can toss your personal life upside down in seconds. So what can you do to protect your digital world? Please, read on and take a little of this with you when you go. It could save you from learning the hard way.

It’s time to take action and protect your digital world. You don’t get to buy a computer and not protect your investment. I am going to cover some very basic but overlooked areas that end users like to skip or assume happens magically under the covers. Let me be very clear, there is no magic going on under the cover of your computer.

So let’s begin, End User Responsibilities are just what it sounds like. Things you should be doing on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to protect your businesses and personal data. I have broken this down into 4 areas.

  1. Recovery
  2. Security
  3. Maintenance
  4. Support

Recovery

Computer systems are ticking time bombs, it’s just a matter of time and the hard drive will fail. What are you doing to protect your date? You have a few options.
